About MP3 to MIDI Tool

MP3 to MIDI Tool is an independent browser utility created and maintained by Karl Zhang. It gives musicians, students, and curious listeners a direct way to turn a clear melody recording into editable MIDI note data.

What the tool does

The converter accepts MP3 and WAV audio, analyzes pitch and timing inside the visitor’s browser, and creates a downloadable standard MIDI file. Controls for silence threshold, pitch range, minimum note length, tempo, and timing quantization let visitors adjust how the result is produced.

Why it runs locally

Audio can be personal or unpublished. The converter therefore processes the selected file on the visitor’s device instead of uploading it to this site. There is no account requirement, file library, or server-side conversion queue.

Practical limits

Pitch detection works best with a clear, single-note melody. Chords, dense mixes, heavy effects, background noise, and percussion can produce incomplete or unexpected note data. Visitors can listen to the source, adjust the controls, and judge the MIDI result before using it in another music application.
