How to Fix MP3 to MIDI Conversion Problems

Extra quiet notes: raise Silence threshold. Tiny fragments: raise Minimum note. Missing low or high notes: widen Pitch range. Off-grid timing: match Tempo, then choose Quantize. Change one control at a time and use the preview to decide whether it helped.

ONE VARIABLE

Use a controlled retry

  1. Convert once with the current controls.
  2. Write down the visible symptom, not a general quality judgment.
  3. Change only the first control listed for that symptom.
  4. Wait for the result to update and preview the notes.
  5. Keep the change only if the named symptom improves.

SOURCE FIRST

Know when controls cannot solve it

This converter tracks a single dominant pitch at a time. A dense mix, overlapping chords, drums, heavy reverb, or background music can create unstable note events. If several parts overlap, retry with a clean solo melody or an isolated stem you are allowed to use.

DETECTION

Threshold and pitch range decide what can become a note

The silence threshold filters by loudness. The pitch range filters by frequency. Tighten them to reject unwanted material; widen them when an intended note falls outside the current window.

TIMING

Minimum note and quantize solve different problems

Minimum note removes events that are too brief. Quantize moves accepted note timing to a musical grid. Use minimum note for fragments and quantize for alignment.

EXPORT

Preview before downloading

The piano roll shows where the browser found notes, while the audio preview lets you hear the detected pitches. Compare the same passage after each change before downloading the `.mid` file.
